The EADP organizes a summer school every year. The summer schools are a joint initiative together with the European Association for Research on Adolescence (EARA) and the Society for Research on Adolescence (SRA). They were established in 2001 by EARA and were co-organized by SRA from 2008 to 2016. The EADP joined this initiative since 2017.
Our summer schools are a great learning opportunity for early career scholars interested in research on adolescence. Leading scholars in the field of adolescent research are brought together with early career scholars to work together intensively for several days. During the summer schools, early career scholars participate in workshops to develop their professional skills as well as work on their own research projects. There is also ample time for networking, often leading to long-term connections.
The 2026 EADP-EARA-SRA summer school will be held in the Netherlands from August 14th to 18th, 2026, right before the EARA conference. It will take place at the 50|50 Hotel Belmont, located in national park “De Veluwe” and is directed by Beata Krzywosz-Rynkiewicz (EADP), Susan Branje (EARA), and Lisa Kiang (SRA).
Senior scholars participating this year include:
We invite doctoral students in any part of the world to apply. A total of 24 students (8 per association) will be selected based on their academic records, research experience, letter of recommendation, and overall evidence of scientific aptitude and competence. Students who apply should have their doctoral research planned or underway, but not completed, so that they can benefit from the critiques given during the school. Students will have to cover their own travel costs, while accommodation from August 14 to August 18 (4 nights) and meals are paid for by the summer school. Students selected by SRA (whose travel costs are expected to be substantially higher) will be eligible for an SRA travel fellowship.
How can I apply?

The 2025 EARA-EADP-SRA summer school was held in Anupriškės Pine Forest, Lithuania from August 21 to August 25, 2025. A total of 24 junior scholars presented their ongoing doctoral work to gain input on their research as well as provided input on the work of their peers. They were supported by 9 senior scholars, namely Simona Caravita, Charissa Cheah, Takuya Yanagida, Eva Telzer, Geertjan Overbeek, Jennifer Symonds, Beata Krzywosz-Rynkiewicz, Susan Branje, and Lisa Kiang. These leading scholars gave inspiring presentations about their research as well as provided input on the work of junior scholars.
Presentations covered a broad range of topics such as theoretical presentations about mental health of young people and upbringing in ethnic minoritized families as well as methodological workshops and challenges. Several roundtables were held that centered around open science, science communication, and challenges of evaluating scientific achievements. And of course there was also time for plenty of fun including walks, swimming in the lake or connecting in the saunas or jacuzzis!
